Geographical Location: Montserrat lies in the Eastern Caribbean 27 miles southwest of Antigua and 40 miles northwest of Guadeloupe. The island is eleven miles long by seven miles wide.

Nearest International Airport: VC Bird International, Antigua. There are at least five 15 minute flights daily from Antigua to Gerald’s Airport, Montserrat.

Political System: Montserrat is a British Overseas Territory with a locally elected government that exercises responsibility through Executive Council (ExCo) and Legislative Council (LegCo). A Governor, appointed by the Crown, chairs ExCo and retains responsibility for offshore finance, internal security, external affairs, defence and the public service. The Chief Minister and three other ministers, each with his/her own ministry, are responsible for all other activities.
