About Us  >  Hotel  Guide St Helena,  Emerald isle of the south atlantic ocean
For tourists there are some self-service accommodation, bed and breakfast accommodations and also three hotels. Namely Farm Lodge Country House Hotel which is the only hotel situated in the peaceful scenic countryside of St Helena, where the climate is some five or more degrees cooler than in Jamestown. It was built about 1750 as an East India Company planter's house, and is encompassed in some 5 acres of its own grounds with lawns and lush tropical gardens. The property has undergone major refurbishment in recent years to restore it to its former Georgian elegance.

There are two hotels in the islands capital, Jamestown. They are Wellington House Hotel, which is a Georgian style 18th Century building situated in central Jamestown. It is operated as a family business where the proprietors pride themselves in providing a family-like service. This includes good home cooking - their speciality being "St Helena -style" meals. Their rooms are spacious and comfortable though not en-suite. Good modern bathroom facilities are on the second floor.

The other one is the Consulate Hotel, which is a mid 18th Century building with its old colonial wrought iron balconies. It provides comfortable and relaxing accommodation in pleasant and friendly surroundings. All rooms are twin bedded, en-suite with bath and shower facilities and are equipped with wall-to-wall carpeting, fan, telephone, clock/radio and coffee/tea making facilities. This Hotel is located at Main Street, Jamestown, and is in easy access to the Post Office, the shopping centre, the Castle Gardens, the Swimming Pool and the seafront.
